Jaina Solo from Star Wars: The New Essential Guide to Characters

Made In. June 2005
Debuted. Anime Expo 2005
Info. If I had to pick only one character from all my fandoms (anime, sci-fi, fantasy, movies, etc.) to call my favorite, Jaina Solo is definitely it. I am a huge Star Wars fan and have read nearly all of the books (known as the Star Wars Expanded Universe), and Jaina Solo is a prominent character in the EU. She and I have almost always been near in age in the books, and that was a main reason why I connected with her so instinctively--I could relate to her and her problems so easily as if they were my own. Jaina is my alter-ego!

Since I am such a Jaina fan, I knew it wouldn't be long before an itching to cosplay her would come along. Indeed, the image of Jaina in the Star Wars: New Essential Guide to Characters was one of the most official and detailed picture of Jaina (which is a hard thing to come by when your character appears only in written format), and one lucky trip to the Los Angeles Fashion District yielded me with all of the fabric I needed for Jaina. I was planning on making it to debut at the San Diego Comic Con, but a Star Wars gathering was planned for Anime Expo two weeks earlier, so I tighted up my schedule so I could finish it in time for then. Sadly, I don't look anything like Jaina (blonde hair and blue eyes vs. brown hair and brown eyes), but I love the character to death so who cares! At least I can say I have the most accurate-looking hair of anyone (back when my hair was long, at any rate...)! XD
