Jaina Solo from Star Wars: The New Jedi Order

Made In. March 2007
Debuted. Celebration IV
Info. I think it's pretty clear how much of a fanatic of Jaina Solo I am, so I'll forgo that schpiel and just say that I would eventually like to make all of Jaina's outifts. This one was the next one I wanted to add to my collection, since it's one of the best documented (behind the New Essential guide version) as it appears on several of the Japanese-released book covers. This costume also directly relates to G-Mal's Jag Fel costume, as the two appear in the same series in these outfits.

There was enough reference material to make this costume, but I did deviate on certain aspects (mainly the belt, as I felt hers was rather plain). The costume was kind of a bitch to make because I had to pattern the jumpsuit out myself. I wanted the outfit to be perfect, so I went through 3 different materials before I finally found one that worked out well. I was planning on having this costume ready for Celebration IV, but when I heard Lionel and the boys of i360.com were planning on shooting in San Diego in March, I moved this costume up on my list in time to get it done for that. The day before the shoot I found a fantastic wig that was nearly perfect for Jaina; it was so good, in fact, that several people asked me if I had dyed my hair!

This costume went over way better than I could have hoped! G-Mal and I shot on the USS Midway, a retired aircraft carrier-turned-floating museum, which was perfect for our costumes as both characters met and fell in love while serving together in the military. At Celebration IV, I can't even believe how many people recognized us! I guess I shouldn't be surprised; if we were going to be recognized anywhere in those costumes, it would be at Celebration!

P.S. Built my own lightsaber using a tutorial found at Lighstabers from the Big Yellow Box!
