Miyazawa Yukino from Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou (Kare Kano)

Made In. August-September 2006
Debuted. Ani-Magic 2006
Info. Kare Kano is LOVE! This series is easily my favorite shojo series. It was one of the first romantic series I ever watched, and it has a perfect blend of humor and seriousness without being too cheesy. I idenify with it a lot, as I experienced a lot of what Yukino went through when I was in high school. It's one of the few series I liked so much that after finishing the anime I picked up the manga!

It had been a while since I had watched the anime, and one day while I was over at Sana-chan and Richii's house we popped in Kare Kano and watched a few episodes. My love for the series was instantly re-ignited, and I decided then and there that I was going to make myself and G-Mal Miyazawa and Arima costumes! Richii is also a big fan of the series, and asked if she could be our Asaba. I was esctatic! I even offered to make her costume for her, since she had been so generous as to make G-Mal's and my Hyotei outfits for the Fanime 2006 masquerade. Stupidly, the hardest part of these costumes was deciding which color to make the jackets and slacks: black or navy? The second hardest part was painting those stripes on my skirt. You'd think that would be an easy chore, but it turned out to be extremely difficult! The tape I used to get the lines straight didn't stick to the fabric very well, which caused the paint to smear, which resulted in me having to rip half the skirt apart. -.-;; Ah, well, even the simplest costumes have their obstacles. All the trouble was completely worth it, of course, because I got to FINALLY cosplay with my boyfriend as my boyfriend and do all the things in front of the camera that boyfriends and girlfriends do. ;D Richii was icing on the cake, as she made the perfect Asaba Hideaki! (Oh yeah, I just want to add that I LOVE my PeroPero plushie I made, with the help of my friend Jinyo who embroidered the eyes!)
