Briar Rose from Sleeping Beauty

Debuted. Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween 2007
Info. A bunch of my friends were doing Disney costumes for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween, and not wanting to miss out on the Disney costuming action, I decided to make a Briar Rose costume. Sleeping Beauty is my favorite Disney Princess movie, and Briar Rose was a simple enough costume to make in a few days. It was great--the costume was comfortable, and we had a blast on Halloween in Disney gear!

I... really didn't put that much effort into this costume. XD My mom had a silk shirt that sort of resembled Rose's blouse, so since I wasn't making any effort to make the blouse, I didn't put a whole lot of effort into the rest of the costume (black zipper on grey fabric, EGAD!)--afterall, I was just making it to wear for Halloween, and I didn't want to spend a lot of money or effort on a costume I was probably only going to wear once (famous last words). I will say that it was my first time making a real corset, and I was pretty proud of how that part turned out (boning FTW!). However, my friend Lionel was coming down to my neck of the woods to shoot some friends, and since I didn't have anything new to wear, I got a nice wig and made G-Mal a Prince Phillip costume to go with Briar Rose for a shoot. I even borrowed my friend's horse, Hazy, to use as Samson! I think the moral of this story is [ghetto costumes made in a couple of days] + [horse] + [photography by Lionel] = EPIIIIIIIIIIIIIIC!!!
